On 15 December 2016, around 10.20 pm, an assailant, travelling with a taxi, got out of the vehicle in front of our headquarters and shot our building four times with a shotgun that he hid in his coat. Later, he dropped his weapon and surrendered to the police.
As a result of the attack, our building was slightly damaged. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the process.
There have been dozens of attacks targeting our provincial and district offices, and the most recent one targeted our headquarter. The instigators of this attack are the members of the government demanding "revenge", ordering the police and the military to be "ruthless", declaring "national mobilisation" and putting our party forward as a target for the accumulating hate.
The government is manipulating public opinion against our party to whitewash its failure and troubles regarding internal and external politics. The mindset demanding "either the executive presidential system or chaos" gradually drags the society and the country into a vortex of turmoil.
We insist on democratic politics in the strongest terms against those trying to remove HDP from democratic politics. We remain determined to solve problems with democratic politics, dialogue and negotiation.
Neither these attacks, nor manipulations of information can prevent us from our democratic path or our determined and principled goals.
